Today is Shrove Tuesday…time to eat pancakes! I’ll make my favorite buttermilk pancake recipe for Michael and the boys this morning and then we’ll take time to look over the great materials that I downloaded from Trinity Acres; a Lenten Calendar with great suggestions for celebrating the Lenten Season with children. Talking with my (former So. Baptist) husband and my friend Lisa, a Christian homeschooling mom, I realized that not all Christians celebrate Lent and so I became curious about those that do and those that don’t. According to the Rev. Kenneth W. Collins, pastor of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church, most Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopalians, and Anglican denomiations, Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox Churches observe Lent. I even found a little Viriginian Baptist Church that observes the season so it seems that some Baptist churches can be included on the list.
If you haven’t given up the internet/computer for Lent, don’t forget to add These Forty Days to your daily blog readings.
