Michael and I talked with the boys yesterday about Lent beginning on Wednesday. Michael asked them to think about what they will be giving up, talking to them about the importance of Lent sacrifices and fasting. I’m still giving some thought and prayer to my Lenten sacrifice. I have a couple of books that I have not read yet (though this one looks nice too since I love poetry!) so I’m thinking that I may make time each evening to read a passage, reflect and pray.
By Sun and Candlelight writes a beautiful post, “What is Lent?”
A Lenten blog, These Forty Days, is hosting The Loveliness of Lent Fair today.
Faith-filled Family: The Many Customs of Lent explains it all.
If anyone wants a Crown of Thorns for their own blog/website, please email me at danidhNOSPAM@aol.com (take out the NOSPAM) and I’ll be happy to send you the file on a transparent background.

As the cold gives way
to the warmer days
Warming up in the morning sunrays
I keep waiting with others
For the church door to open there
with spring breeze brushing the hair
Teasing my face with its refreshing fingers
The merry season passes over
paving way for the penance ‘n prayer
Comes Lent thru the Ash
ending the days of happy bash
“Dust to Dust” he would mutter
‘Wash me through…O Lord’, I utter
