A new card…
Posted by Dani under Blog Notes , Digi-Scrapping , Down syndrome , Faith , Family , Friends , Graphics , Homeschooling , Paper Crafts , Poetry/Songs , Recipes , WinterI created a new card out of my little Kit star baby. I had a lot of fun creating the different papers/bkgs for it.

A lot of the details are lost on this smaller image (my original is 5″x5″) so here are the three papers that I created a bit bigger so you can see the patterns and textures.

The little star cluster (on her hair ribbon and on the bottom corner) is a PS 7 brush that I created back in 2003. You can download it here.

Homeschooling
Quinn had a speech therapy class yesterday and actually did fairly well…well, he behaved, for the most part. LOL We’re still working on his S’s, so I’m going to try to find some type of printables for him to work on in the coming weeks. I also do tongue twisters with him…
Six slippery snails slid slowly seaward.
I split a sheet the sheet I split and on the sheet a skeeter sit.
We’re trying to keep his tongue behind his teeth as he sounds out his s’s and I really think he’s doing well with that.
…
Since we had another wicked snowstorm yesterday (not much snow layed but it looked awesome coming down!) I think the twins and I will add an Evan-Moor freebie to their lesson today…Snowy Similes.

Recipes
Tried a new (easy) cake recipe yesterday. Everyone seemed to like it…
1 Box Spice Cake Mix (mix and bake according to package for 8″ or 9″ round pans)
1 can Apple Pie Filling
1 1/2 cans Cream Cheese Frosting
Bake the cake, let it cool. Place pie filling on bottom layer, add top and frost. I had to open a second can to completely cover the cake. It was moist, spicy, apple-y and delicious!

White Fields
~ James Stephens ~
In the wintertime we go
Walking in the fields of snow;
Where there is no grass at all;
Where the top of every wall,
Every fence and every tree,
Is as white as white can be.
Pointing out the way we came,
Every one of them the same.
All across the field there be
Prints in silver filigree;
And our mothers always know,
By the footprints in the snow,
Where it is the children go.
