He was created in Poser 4 and Photoshop CS2.  If you want him (no background) as a transparent png (280×551 pixels)…just give me a holler.

Quinn was diagnosed with Strep and an ear infection on Tuesday morning so he’s now on antibiotics and we’re still housebound. I’m really going to miss our annual week after shopping though we really don’t buy anything; I just love to look. *smile* This year I wanted to go to Savage Mill and Boyds Bear Country. I love seeing the Mill and the huge Boyds Bear barn all decorated for the holidays. Maybe if he’s better by Saturday I can talk Michael into visiting at least one of them before the decorations come down.

We’re still waiting for winter to arrive in Baltimore but here are some links to comfort foods, diet and NOT. My favorite comfort food is a mashed potato sandwich…

2 slices of good crusty bread
mayo, salt & pepper
leftover mashed potatoes
Slice of your favorite cheese

Warm the bread with a slice of your favorite cheese in the toaster oven. Warm the potatoes in the microwave. Combine with mayo and salt & pepper to taste.

Grandma’s Recipes
~ Unknown ~
This has always puzzled me, just how much is a pinch?
These recipes of dear Grandma’s surely are no cinch.
A “snip” of this, a “dab” of that, a “lump” of something else,
Then “beat it for a little while”, or, “stir until it melts.”
I have to be a wizard to decipher what she meant,
By all these strange proportions in her cookbook worn and bent.
How much nutmeg in the doughnuts? Grandma wouldn’t flinch,
As she said, with twinkling eyes, “Oh, just about a pinch.”
There must have been in her wise head a measuring device,
That told her just how much to use of sugar, salt and spice.
Family HollyI pray that everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We had a good one, surrounded by family, reliving old memories, making new ones.
We spent Christmas Eve at my sister, Col’s house and, as always, had a fantastic time! Col decorates beautifully, has delicious food and we play “Twas the Night Before Christmas” game where Col places a big pile of presents on the floor in front of her, distributes index cards with words from the story to everyone and then reads the poem. Every time your word is read you run to the pile to grab a present. When the pile is empty you start stealing presents from other family members…and that’s when the fun starts. *smile* This year’s highlight was everyone trying to get a really big box…which turned out to be a gag gift of one of Uncle Greg’s old boots. Cade was the lucky recipient.
Da Boot

Quinn woke up at 4:00 am on Christmas morning with croup, (we think Cade and Connor had something to do with him waking up so early) so he spent a very quiet day at home with Michael and me taking turns staying home with him. He really didn’t feel good and only was slightly interested in what Santa had left for him.

Michael's Wrapping Miracle!

The boys opened their presents. Michael was very proud of the robot he put together with some of the twins’ wrapped toys and wanted me to post it on my blog so others could admire his creativity. *smile*

The boys were scheduled to serve at the 8:30 Christmas Day Mass so Michael took them, stopping by my parents’ house to pick up my Momma and Daddy. Daddy doesn’t attend church with us (he was raised a Luthern) and it’s always special when he does go…I’m sorry that I had to miss it.

Later on in the day, Sean, Cade, Connor and I went to my parents’ house where both my sisters and their families gathered for more presents and food.

4th Sunday of Advent
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for He has visited and brought redemption to His people. (Luke 1:68)
Reflection
As soon as Jesus was born, visitors began to come. First it was the shepherds. Then the wise men. Then Simeon and Anna. Then even the soldiers of Herod were sent to find Him. Together these visitors represent the people of every nation, coming by every possible path and conveyance to see Christ. These words of Zechariah’s Canticle, cited above, remind us that it was impossible to contain God in heaven. Through Jesus, He “visited” and “brought redemption” to us. He continues through Jesus and through us to dwell in our world today. When people look at us, do they think of Jesus?
Advent Action

Thank God for the gift of His Son, Jesus.

Prayer

Rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel shall come to you, O Israel. Lord, may we rejoice that Jesus Christ is born anew in our hearts and in our home. Amen.

I’ve been packing them up in boxes, bags, and bowl and tins. I gave Michael two bags of his favorites to keep in his study (as long as they last…one day, maybe two LOL) so he would leave mine alone until they were all delivered. I love cookie baking though I hate cleaning up the mess. Until next year!

Christmas Memories
~ Nancy Hughes ~
Snowflakes falling,
Friends come calling,
Decorations in green and red.
Smells enticing,
Bowls of icing,
For cookies and gingerbread.
Candles glowing,
Goodwill flowing,
The Christmas story is read.
Yule log burning,
Wishful yearning
As children dream in bed.
Stockings hung
Carols sung,
Hope and Peace, the common thread.
Families near,
Memories dear,
As Christmas blessings are spread.

Christmas Graphics

These are probably the last of the Christmas graphics for this year. I’ve had a lot of fun making them. These were created using a font that I created, Christmas Cheer, many years ago. You can find it in many place on the web…Dafont carries it. Fonts collectors have a very active online community, so probably long after I’m gone you’ll still be able to find the fonts that I made somewhere. *smile*

Mr. Grinch is one of our favorites to watch during the holiday season. When I ran across this 3D mesh of the Grinch, I just had to create a Christmas graphic or two in his honor.

Christmas Graphics

I’m not quite sure what you would use these for other than scrapbooking but I really had a lot of fun making them yesterday while Quinn napped. They were all created in Photoshop using various brushes, fonts, shapes, my own pixel painted graphics and even one of my enhanced Poser images. The postmarks were created from brushes by the very talented michmellow.

The preview images have drop shadows applied but the actual png’s do not. If you want the stamps without the postmarks…just let me know.

Day Before Christmas
~ Marchette Chute~

We have been helping with the cake
And licking out the pan,
And wrapping up our packages
As neatly as we can.

And we have hung our stockings up
Beside the open grate,
And now, there’s nothing more to do
Except to wait!
