I threw my back out on Friday. It’s from picking up Quinn (who is over 50 lbs. now). I could feel it going out for awhile but I was hoping that I would be able to continue with some modifications. Didn’t work because Quinn needs help getting in and out of the car, stroller, etc. I’ve been doing the ice/heat treatments but so far it’s not healing as quickly as I would like. I really miss my walking!
I used my downtime over the weekend to figure out how to create this blog. Poor Michael! It wasn’t much of a Father’s Day for him but at least he did amuse himself by calling me his “brokeback” wife. Not sure why he thinks that’s so funny, but he does. *smile* I was really happy that I was able to import all of my content from my Blogger blogs…now I’ve got to go back re-edit them because importing messed up the format.
My sister and her family are down the ocean this week. Praying that Erich gets well quickly (he has a double ear infection) and that the weather is nice for them and that all have a good time. Don’t forget to bring me back some fudge!

I’ve finally figured out how to add a blog to my website and it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be! Everything has been transferred from blogger to here.

Daddy, I love you
For all that you do.I’ll kiss you and hug you
‘Cause you love me, too.You feed me and need me
To teach you to play.
So smile ’cause I love you
On this Father’s Day.

Fathers are wonderful people,
too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
as often as we should,
For Father struggles daily
to live up to his image
As protector and provider
and hero of the scrimmage,
And perhaps that is the reason
we sometimes get the notion
That fathers are not subject
to the thing we call emotion.
But if you look inside Dad’s heart,
where no one else can see,
You’ll find he’s sentimental
and soft as he can be.
Fathers are just wonderful
in a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
and accolades of praise,
For the only reason Dad aspires
to fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
and bring them happiness,
And like our heavenly Father,
he’s a guardian and a guide,
Someone we can count on
to be always on our side.

Dad is a person
who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
what you have on your mind.
He’s someone who listens,
suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one
of your very best friends!
He’s proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
and helpful and strong
In all that you do,
a dad’s love plays a part.
There’s always a place for him
deep in your heart.
And each year that passes,
you’re even more glad,
More grateful and proud
just to call him your dad!
Thank you, Dad…
for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!

The photo looks like it may be of a park playground but it’s actually my sister Colleen’s playground in her backyard. Colleen’s house is huge (almost 8,000 sq. ft.) and absolutely gorgeous! I love taking pictures of the interior of her house too because she has decorated it so very beautifully.
My other sister, Honey, (the one with two sets of twins) lives next door to me and has been busy with remodeling her house, adding a huge deck off the back, an upstairs (to make room for the children) and has had her yard professionally landscaped.
I keep hoping that one day (before I’m too old to care! LOL) I’ll have a house and yard of my dreams. Just wishing…

My sons talked me into opening my own guild at Neopets called PinkBaby Fae. I have no idea what I am going to do with it…

Beautiful Things 2nd challenge is New Flavours…try a food you’ve never eaten before. I’ll have to give this some thought because truthfully there is not much that I haven’t tried. Of course, being a vegetarian will put limits on what I will and won’t eat.

Nor honey makes, nor yet can sing,
As do the bee and bird;
Nor does it, like the prudent ant,
Lay up the grain for times of want,
A wise and cautious hoard.
My youth is but a summer’s day:
Then like the bee and ant I’ll lay
A store of learning by;
And though from flower to flower I rove,
My stock of wisdom I’ll improve
Nor be a butterfly.

Somehow, it seems appropriate today…
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking as He did this sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him Forever
in the next.

To make our lives complete.
They quietly brave the winter cold,
Endure the summer heat.Our fathers’ lives are busy, but
There’s always time for us.
They boldly face the ups and downs
And seldom ever fuss.
We know you know this, too.
But thank you for the chance to share
Our love for them with you.

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight,The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it … Dad

Yesterday I started my day just like any other with cleaning up the downstairs, taking my 40 minute walk and posting in my blogs in the wee early hours of the morning.
Michael woke up; wished him a Happy Birthday. At 7:30 I scooped Quinn up out of bed, got him dressed and headed off to the mall for a 40+ minute walk with a couple of homeschooling friends.
Next on the agenda, even though it was a bit rainy, was a visit downtown to the Inner Harbor with the twins & some friends to see the 2006 Jamestown Godspeed Sail. The exhibits were very nice though geared toward tourism…and most importantly everything was FREE! The weather cleared and it turned out to be a wonderful day. We made handprints to be included in next year’s celebration in Jamestown, took a tour of the Godspeed, got our pictures taken as astronauts, courtesy NASA, and ate lunch while being entertained by The Landing Party Festival’s Anniversary Voices. I left my camera in the car but thankfully Dawn had hers. The boys loved it!
Michael came home from work and we all went out to eat at Don Pablo’s…I’m still full this morning from eating, with my families help, 3 baskets of chips and salsa. I had an order of tortillas and mashed potatoes, Michael, a cheese quesadilla, Connor some tamales, Quinn, chicken strips and Cade had the bottomless bowl of Tortilla Soup. We then headed out to the boys’ Boy Scout meeting and I spent an enjoyable hour and a half chatting to the other moms on the front steps of the American Legion Hall.
We finished off the evening with a family gathering in the kitchen to sing “Happy Birthday” to Michael and then everyone (but me!) had cake.
I hope Michael had as nice a day as we did on his birthday!

In our school there will be
no boring lectures,
no politically-correct textbooks,
no required courses,
no graffiti-covered walls,
no overcrowded classrooms,
no high-stakes testing,
no strict schedules, and
no dress codes…
But the whole world will be
an open book as we run free
to windsung poems,
and we will rejoice
as we explore the wonders
of God’s creation.

A Flutter of Fairies
It’s Always Something
Mon 12 Jun 2006
I just took a moment to say,
With heartfelt thankfulness,
How much I know I am blessed
With the love so deep and true
That I receive from you.
It may not always show,
But darling, I always know
That God gave you to me
And I will ever be
A grateful, loving wife
All throughout my life.
I love you with all my heart
And we will never part.
I know this love will last.
And so a day will never pass
In which I cannot say:
I said a prayer for you today.

ARC International - The Art Renewal Center is the largest online museum of 20th century art. (nudity warning).
A Walk through Durham Township, Pennsylvania - Kathleen Connelly’s beautiful photos of rural Pennsylvania.
Skirted round with houses small,
All the boys and girls are seen,
Playing there with hoop and ball.
Now they frolic hand in hand,
Making many a merry chain;
Then they form a warlike band,
Marching o’er the level plain.
Now ascends the worsted ball,
High it rises in the air,
Or against the cottage wall,
Up and down it bounces there.
Then the hoop, with even pace,
Runs before the merry throngs;
Joy is seen in every face,
Joy is heard in cheerful songs.
